Became a Solicitor in 1968. Jim specializes in residential conveyancing, wills, care of the elderly, and the administration of trusts and estates. He is a member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners.

Became Senior Partner in 2001. He is Chairman of Newark CAB, Chairman of Weston Parish Council. He has been involved with the Church at Weston for a number of years. He was also for a number of years, Chairman of the Governors of Tuxford Comprehensive School and was also involved in the Law Society programmes for training of Solicitors.
