The Transfer of Undertakings (Protection of Employment) Regulations, better known as TUPE, apply when a business is sold, or service provision is outsourced.

They confer legal obligations on the seller and buyer of a business relating to the transfer of employees.

TUPE is a complicated area of law, and parties to a business transfer should take advice on their obligations, and whether TUPE will effect their transaction.
